Our mangosteen is made from pure mangosteen pericarp. It is freeze dried and comes in the form of gelatin capsules, made from a natural plant base, and are Halal and Vegan friendly, and also Kosher. Of second and primary importance is that our product is NOT Irradiated. Were our product imported as fresh fruit, by law it would have to be. There are so many products to choose from, many are in juice form, mixed with various other fruit juices and who knows what else, usually sodium benzoate for sure as a preservative. How much sugar is in the liquid product, usually mixed with other fruit juices for better taste. Are you diabetic? Watch out! They also tend to be more expensive and much less potent. Choose wisely. Check labels carefully. Also, how much pure mangosteen pericarp is actually in the health product you are buying? Ours has 540 mg. per capsule. Most mangosteen health products are sold in juice form. The fruit comes from Thailand and other areas of Southeast Asia, these countries are big users of pesticides. The canning companies of these products use the fruit, maybe some pericarp, but most of the pericarp is literally thrown on the floor, swept up, and sold to companies looking for pericarp. If you're taking a "pericarp only" product, are the skins cleaned from pesticides and contaminants? Are the floors in these facilities even clean.
