Fresh Mangosteen Fruits

Mangosteen and Your Health and Wellness

Mangosteen and wellness seem to make more sense the more research I do. It is becoming an accepted fact that free radical damage and chronic low grade inflammation are at the root of so many of our health challenges today. The 40 some different xanthones found in the mangosteen fruit, each xanthone with a different antioxidant property, and the other phytonutrients working together are showing to be powerful antioxidants. Xanthones have shown in tests to also be effective COX-2 inhibitors, the inflammation part of the equation.

I’m becoming very fond of the term “wellness” and all that it implies. Wellness is a proactive and methodical approach to sustainable health. It includes intelligent food choices as well as quality supplementation, and exercise.  In the next few weeks I will be introducing to this site a gentleman I’ve been working with closely, he runs a wellness clinic and has for many years. His name is Rick Jahn. He is a doctor of Chinese medicine and an acupuncturist by trade. We have had lengthy discussions regarding free radical damage and chronic low grade inflammation. He is able to offer a very inexpensive in home lab test which shows the amount of free radical damage in the body. We have also recently discussed another test called a C-Reactive Protein test which measures the amount of inflammation in the body.

Newer science shows C-Reactive Protein levels to be an excellent indicator for heart disease, and it’s looking like a more important indicator than cholesterol levels, although they are both important. I will elaborate more on this in future posts.

Mangosteen product is showing in double blind tests to be effective in lowering free radical damage (oxidation) and also C-Reactive Protein levels in the body. This is very exciting and promising and will be discussed at length pending the conclusion of my research on the subject. Wellness is all about proactively doing what we can to try to prevent disease by not giving it “fertile ground” in our bodies in which to flourish.
