Mangosteen May Boost Your Immune System
Your immune system and what part the mangosteen fruit may play in it’s aid I believe are misconceived by many. I keep hearing in the health and wellness circles that the mangosteen fruit is an immune system booster. My research shows no basis for this claim. I would like to think that this is not so much that people are trying to misrepresent, but just don’t have the proper knowledge. I consult with a number of board certified physicians and other experts for my research and understanding of the mangosteen fruit and the roles it plays in relation to our health.
My understanding from lectures I have listened to is that the mangosteen fruit is believed to help modulate our immune system. In simple terms, immune modulation would be the maintaining of communication pathways of the immune system enabling it to optimally respond to constant changes within the body. Our bodies are constantly bombarded with foreign material. The immune system’s job is to recognize the foreign material and trigger appropriate responses.
Another way that the bio active chemicals in the fruit may assist our immune system is in it’s inherent properties in that it is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-virus, anti-parasitic, anti tumor, anti cancer, and that it is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. In this way it would only make sense that as these foreign “materials” enter the body, the xanthones and other phytonutrients are working together to eradicate the foreign materials, thus helping to keep the communication pathways of the immune system clear and functioning properly.
